Professor Jeon,

If you are here to grade our project website, “Vision System” page is the one you want to look at.

Thank you,

Available Tasks

We are trying to have more structure in the club. Hopefully this way the new students don’t feel too lost. The followings are available tasks that can be worked on by anyone. Please feel free to make suggestions or ask questions!

IMAV 2012
Identify what UWMAV has to achieve to successfully complete the competition

Co-axial RC Assembly and Test
Find the parts (located somewhere in the bay), assemble and fly with remote control

Ground Station Software
Learn to use Linux; Configure libraries such as OpenCV and Qt

Servo Test (Currently Raymond Zheng is involved in this)
Complete Arduino Motorshield (Currently Raymond Zheng is involved in this)

Platform Design and 3D Printing (Sean is involved in this)
Improve the currently existing design or just print it

Standard USB to Mini-USB conversion
Our image sensor interfaces with the onboard computer through USB. The connector types are different. So we have to swap the image sensor’s standard USB dongle to a mini-usb.

I guess we can have 3~4 people per task. Please let us know if you are
interested!

Gimbal Mechanical and Electrical Meeting Oct. 31 6:00PM at the Bay

UPDATE – Meeting is postponed for now until further notice (4 PM October 31). Sorry for such a late change!

Hello everyone, there will be a brief meeting for the Mechanical and the Electrical people next Monday. We will discuss a few different gimbal designs. So please bring forward anything you have on your mind! As per the gimbal above, we will discuss the followings:

Mechanical

  • Inappropriate proportions. The platform (in transparent blue) is too small?
  • Design refinement wherever possible with 3D printing in mind
  • Better design for the twisting arms to do roll. Use something rubbery? – Or is this even feasible?
  • Vibration absorption material between the platform and the gimbal unit

Electrical

  • How to change the heading  (360 degrees and more) without tangling the wire
Take a look at this video. The above design was based the it. The Solidworks files are uploaded in the FTP for your reference. If you don’t know the access ID and password to access the files, please emails Adam at mr.flow3r[at]gmail.com

UWMAV Forum Online (Once Again)

form.uwmav.com is now online again. We are not sure why it was down. So feel free to ask questions regarding anything, such as setting up OpenCV on your computer and such. And also feel free to answer any questions!
